As the oil price continues to rise, interest in this shale oil resource is building. When oil shale production starts, the current predictions are that production will be through surface mining with oil shale retorted for extraction. In this environment, LMKR Geographix is well positioned to assist our customers mapping overburden, resource thickness and rock quality that will be needed to determine where the hot-spots of maximum profitability are.

We expect that as resource sampling builds a picture of resource disposition, LMKR Geographix database and petrophysical analysis in PRIZM will facilitate the fastest possible high grading of available acreage. As the play continues to mature, merging the improving geological understanding with man-made surface features in GeoAtlas will allow the fastest decisions as the ‘where’ and ‘how to’ extract the oil shale for maximum profitability.
