Exploration Management System (EMS) is a Windows-based, multi user GIS based Digital Database package that has been utilized by almost all the Exploration and Production Companies in Pakistan as the front-end tool for their data management needs. The application consists of a front-end GIS with a backend database. The database module comprises of five independent modules namely lease information, wells, seismic, production and technical data library. Whereas the GIS interface; i.e. EMS Map is a comprehensive ESRI shape files based Geographic Information System (GIS). This interface reflects all activities related to the E&P sector on a GIS map. It provides all the standard GIS features like navigation, pre-defined layer (PDL) and user-defined layer (UDL) imposition on the map, multiple projection systems, data import/export to industry standard formats, raster and vector data overlay, seismic base map generation, and to-the-scale printing etc. The user can also review selected information from within the GIS interface without going back into the database.
