Under this contract, LMKR installed and implemented PetroBank, the market leading data management solution offered by Landmark Graphics utilizing IBM's Robotic Tape Library and storage devices. The scope of work included transferring 12 terabytes of seismic and well log data on-line, which will run interactively with the Power Explorer -- application provided by Landmark Graphics. The secondary scope of work involved tape transcription and hardcopy well and seismic data management that consisted of paper to digital conversions.

Under a revenue sharing agreement, LMKR undertook the project to implement an online data repository using Landmark's PetroBank solution for the management of complex and critical seismic and well log data for the entire country. The data retrieved from all operators was brought to standard digital media formats. Data sets included more than 300,000 tapes, which contained data for more than 1000 wells and more than 9000 seismic lines. Currently, there are more than 65000 hardcopy documents that are being scanned and catalogued. All the data is being re-mastered, and quality controlled before loading it into PetroBank.

The project has resulted in a centralized E&P data repository which can be conveniently accessed by various energy companies via web. Due to centralized web access, the lead time has been reduced by 70%. This quick availability of E&P data has resulted in more exploration activity in Pakistan
