MarocGIS is a comprehensive ESRI shape files based Geographic Information System developed for Office National de Recherches et d’Exploitation Petroliers (ONAREP) - Morocco’s National Oil Company. US Trade Development Authority (USTDA) funded this project for its Energy and Production data management and decision analysis. It has a comprehensive backend Oracle database and covers most of the E&P business objects like leasing and licenses, wells, well production, well logs, seismic, magnetic, geological basins and stratigraphic database.
The project involved the Geographic Information System and Information Technology Feasibility Study commissioned by the Office National de Recherches et d. Exploitations Pétrolières (ONAREP). The United States Trade and Development Agency provided grant funding for this study. The prime contractor was Computation Geosciences and major sub-contract work was awarded to LMKR owing to its experience and expertise.
The project included development of a comprehensive database schema based on POSC (Petrotechnical Open Standards Consortium) and PPDM (Public Petroleum Data Model) Standards. A GIS system was also developed as a proof of concept. To successfully implement the project, a detailed implementation plan was prepared along with recommendations on the environmental and regulatory issues and capacity building (both in terms of human resource and infrastructure/equipment). |
