The project was undertaken to support Kazakh Oil in improving its information management by bringing it in line with international practices and modern technology applications. The project was funded by a grant from the United States Trade and Development Agency. Sarkeys Energy Center at the University of Oklahoma was the prime contractor while LMKR, having implementation experience and expertise in the relevant field at national level, was the integral part of the project team.
The deliverables of the project included:
Functional design for information flow system focusing on Geographic Information System & Petroleum Information Service, National Library of Petroleum Data.
Recommendations for a production monitoring system. Recommendations were provided on methods to upgrade the accounting and planning processes. A general review of the legal framework based on international practices was conducted for data management in petroleum E&P in Kazakhstan including data ownership, reporting, release regulations and data sharing. |
